Before you take a seat
“How a night here actually runs.”
A short guide to how the room works, from walking in the door to handing your chips back at the end of the night.
Getting started
“Before the first hand.”
- Walk in any time after doors open and tell the counter who's dealing you in.
- New players are matched to a table where the dealer can talk them through the game as it goes.
- Bring identification — eighteen is the minimum age and it's checked at the door.
- There's no need to book unless a guaranteed seat on Saturday matters to you.
At the table
“What's expected once the cards are down.”
- Play moves at a steady pace — take your turn without holding up the table, and ask the dealer if anything's unclear.
- Chips represent points only and are never exchanged for cash, during the game or after it.
- Phone calls belong at the counter, not the table, so the count stays audible.
- Good humour matters more than winning; the dealer can ask anyone not playing fair to sit out.
- Table talk is fine, but coaching another player's hand from outside the game isn't part of how Brumby Creeks plays.
Finishing up
“At the end of the night.”
- Chips are counted back in at your table before you head out, and the dealer tallies the points for the night.
- There's no payout at any stage — points simply keep score across the evening.
- The counter stops pouring well before the final hand finishes each night.
- Take your time on the way out; the car park at the back stays lit until the last table clears.
